Join us for our new monthly hiking group here at Merry Lea, the Merry Lea Milers! During our time together, we will hear from a guest speaker about various nature-related topics while eating some lunch. Afterwards, we will spend the rest of our time hiking and exploring around the property. Please wear weather appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes, bring a sack lunch and a water bottle.
Every summer since 2001, Merry Lea has been the site of bird banding research coordinated through the Institute for Bird Populations. During our hike around Merry Lea’s banding station, Carol Good-Elliott will explain the banding research currently happening at Merry Lea, provide an opportunity to engage with the equipment used for bird banding and share some things we have learned from 20+ years of banding.
