Join us at Merry Lea to discover the diversity of the plants and animals that live here! Go on a hike to look for signs of animals, and discover the different ecosystems they inhabit. Analyze some of our native plants up close, and see how they help build habitats.

Notes:

• This program is designed for students aged 6 - 9 years old.
• If you wish to sign up for additional dates in the Homeschool series (7 total dates offered in 2025-2026), please complete registration for one event and then choose 'Keep Shopping' to select additional dates.
• *Please note there are AM & PM sessions offered on each date.
• Students ages 9 – 17 may join our Junior and Teen Indiana Master Naturalist program.
• Both our Homeschool and Jr/Teen IMN programs are for students only and are designed as drop-off programs. We do have public events that are available for the entire family to enjoy if desired.

Expectations for participation & conduct:

• We expect all students to demonstrate respect for fellow students and teachers at Merry Lea.
• Outdoor education involves exposure to some natural hazards like trips and falls, insect bites and stings and irritating plants. Merry Lea educators try to minimize these risks. It is imperative that students listen to directions in order to maintain safety out on the trails and inside the facilities.

*Registration is REQUIRED for this event. You are not required to sign up for every event in the series!

Cancellation Policy

Reservations for Merry Lea's programs can fill quickly, and quality experiences require the help of staff and advance preparation. A last minute cancellation is disruptive and may prevent a wait-listed participant from coming.

If you cancel a program that involves Merry Lea educators, you will be refunded:

  • A full refund if participant cancels one week prior to a program
  • A 50% refund if participant cancels from six days to 24 hours before a program
  • No refund if participant cancels less than 24 hours prior to a program

If Merry Lea cancels a program (due to dangerous weather, low enrollment or unforeseen emergencies) a full refund will be issued.
*Please note: refunds are issued through the Goshen College accounting office, and may take up to 3 weeks to process.
